Community Grant Program

NoSoCo Air proudly presents its Community Air Sensor Program (CAIRS) to offer 50 particulate sensors at no cost to qualifying public-facing community groups.  These sensors provide real-time air quality information (AQI) online to help communities plan and respond to air pollution events.

Who May Apply?

Eligible applicants represent community groups that are public-facing.  Priority consideration is provided for groups that serve sensitive persons such as the elderly, children, low-income and disadvantaged communities, outdoor workers, and schools.  Not eligible for individual use or single-family dwelling.

How to Apply

  • Review the CAIRS Use Agreement for terms and requirements.
  • Create a brief statement of your eligibility and the community group(s) that would be served.
  • Sign the Use Agreement.  Be sure to complete sections 1 & 8 (project location and your contact information).

Send your signed Use Agreement and eligibility statement to us by one of these methods to the attention of “CAIRS”:

  • E-mail:  airquality@sonoma-county.org.
  • Drop-off:  District front door drop box.
  • Postal mail:  NSCAPCD, 150 Matheson Street, Healdsburg, CA 95448.

Selected Projects

Eligible projects are selected on a first-come-first-served basis, one sensor per project.  Applicants will be notified by email.  If your project is selected, we will schedule a time for you to pick up your sensor at the District office and review the installation process with you.

CALIFORNIA CLIMATE INVESTMENTS

The Community Air Sensor Program (“CAIRS”) is implemented by Northern Sonoma County Air Pollution Control District, with sensor funding provided by California Climate Investments.  California Climate Investments, is a statewide initiative that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing greenhouse gas emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment — particularly in disadvantaged communities.
