Staying abreast of legislative activity helps keep the District visible, aware of new opportunities, and promotes policy and rules that work at a local level. The Board’s adoption of these priorities authorizes the District’s active participation to influence local, state, and federal decision-making on legislative, administrative, regulatory and funding issues, and to support judicial advocacy consistent with our priorities.

Legislative Platform

Each year the District reviews state legislative activity and crafts its legislative platform to help bring resources and beneficial policies, rules, and regulations to our community. Using these documents as a guide, the APCO, District counsel, and District team will work on specific legislation, regulations and budget proposals, and respond to requests for amicus curiae support when the outcome of a pending lawsuit is likely to significantly affect a priority concern of the District.

Reducing Climate Hazards

The District announces its support of the Paris Climate Agreement and local climate mitigation efforts with District Resolution #18-04. Recognizing that sub-national entities such as air districts cannot formally join the Agreement itself, the District has adopted a resolution in support of the Paris Climate Agreement framework, also integrating support for State and County programs, including principles of District strategic partner, the Sonoma County Regional Climate Protection Authority (RCPA). The District is a funding member of the RCPA.
